Dankook 160808-Part 2

WE FINALLY ARRIVED AT DANKOOK!

We arrived in one piece haha with all our luggage and limbs.

Plus the bus driver uncle was so nice, he got up from his driver seat and helped us to get our luggage down from the bus :') mi crai. Thank you ahjussi :')

I was just too fascinated with the concept of actually belonging to a university with a campus :D (because my uni has no campus...yet) 

Dorm sweet dorm

We had to take a taxi up to the dorm because we cannot possibly lug up all our luggage with only 2 hands. There's no grab or uber here so we had to call a kakao taxi. I'm not exactly sure how it works because my friend was the one who handled that. And its also in korean so I think most likely you guys won't use it. Taxis starting price is 3,000 won. The moment you get in the taxi, its already 3,000 won. It's like here in KL, its RM3 but over there its 3,000won. 

Dankook actually has buses going around the campus but it does not stop directly in front of the dorm. The nearest bus stop to the dorm is in front of the Dankook bear aka Dan oongie. Really, that's what my Dankook friend told me.

I went when all the students were on their summer break so the dankook shuttle bus was not operating. We had to use the public bus number 24. It's free within campus. It's most convenient. We can take this bus to town and also to emart!! I MISS EMART TT 

There's another bus that stops there too but I can't remember the bus number. I think its 718? 781? Anyways its a green bus. Bus 24 is yellow. 

So, my dorm is Woongbi Hall. It's kinda more fancy schmancy that I expected. 

We arrived earlier than all the other students because most of the students opted for the airport pick-up but we came on our own. We had to talk to the dorm security and surprisingly we weren't struggling that much because that uncle is korean and he can't speak english so we had to converse with him in korean. I think my grammar was wrong but my friend did most of the talking so I'm saved! And this uncle is nice. He said our korean (my friend's korean) is very good HAHAHA

I'm not sure whether each floor has a common room but I believe so. For the record, I don't think I've ever seen that tv switched on. I don't hang out here either. I only come here to refill water ^^ They have cold water and hot water. The hot water is really hot. I know because I used it to eat convenience store bought ramyeon (instant noodles). 

And now, the room! It's 2 people to a room. And there's no room key or room card. We use the keypad to open the door with a 4-digit code. So atas, very macam yes bro.

Laundry room

Doing laundry here is more fun than doing laundry at home tbh. There's a laundry card that we have to buy and we need to reload it to use the card. So its not a coin machine but a card machine. Just tap and its 1,000won per wash and 1,000 per dry. There's also an ironing board nearby but my roommate and I didn't bother ironing lol. But our friend did.

Last Day in Seoul 160808-Part 1

I want to cry :'( 

Just look at the title and you'll already know why I emo now. 

So, FINALLY we managed to get our local sim cards done at the global Olleh store at Hongdae. It's expensive af no kidding. The sim card + 1GB data + 30 days validation costs 33,100 won. That's about um...RM120 and from what I've just found out, the currency exchange value is now RM3.74 for 1,000 won (I'm writing this about a month after coming back from Korea, procrastination at its best indeed).

We had KFC for lunch. I had some sort of Zinger burger set 5,500won (RM19 cries). Oh and one thing about fast food chains here: THERE IS NO CHILLI SAUCE. I can already imagine some Malaysians clinging onto their chilli bottles and weeping at this news. I can live without chilli sauce but my other Malaysian friends who came here can't. Their coke is kinda diluted too. The fries is just so-so. But food is food.

And there is one culture here in Korea. You have to clean up after yourselves, especially in fast food restaurants. They have an area where you can dispose your trash. They even sort out cups and straws and a small hole to dump your unfinished soda or whatever. But in some restaurants you won't need to do that. I can't specify which so you will just have to be observant. When in Rome, one Romes. Okay I know that isn't the actual saying but you totally get what I mean.

Moving on, we moved on. We dragged all of our possessions and decided to go on a pilgrimage. To Dankook University.

We boarded the 8100 bus from Seoul Station and thus, begins our journey into infinity and beyond.

Something is wrong with me today, just ignore me.

SEOUL- Day 3 Part 2 (160807)

We wanted to eat at School Food in Garosugil but the waiting list was too long and we were starving ballz. So we just wandered around and we went into one of the smaller lanes and we found this random restaurant and it's like one of those awesome moments when you find a good random place to eat. We ordered kimchi jjim. When it first came, I was like OH HELL NO IT LOOKS LIKE THE DEVIL'S SPIT.

We even asked the uncle whether it's super spicy or not and he was like no its the least spicy. The restaurant has a spiciness level so yeah. But after we tried it, it wasn't that spicy haha. It goes well with white rice and the price was really not bad too. 14,000won for two people's share.

We got lost after Joyrich and it mostly my fault oops. BUT we did manage to find our way (eventually) to the subway exit at Sinsa station that we came out from thank goodness. We then moved to our next destination.

Yup das right. We went to SM COEX Artium!!! Its right next to the COEX Mall and this artium has about 4 floors. There's a market, cafe, beauty thing, goods store, theatre and I don't know what else. The moment I went up those escalators, my mouth just could not close. SM really knows how to bring in the big bucks. There were so many people in there and they're not all korean. There were many international fans there too.

I didn't try that hand matching thing cos there were some girls hogging it. Oh wells I can come back and try again. The glass is so dirty ew so I didn't place my hands on the glass either. Junmyeon has tiny hands we all know that.

Oh yeah can anyone tell me which SUM Cafe does Exo frequent the most? Cos I've seen fancams of them speedwalking to a elevator area thing and I didn't see that at this artium SUM Cafe so it must be at another SUM Cafe. Please please let me know asap if you know which one it is thank you so so much. 

For dinner, we were kinda forced to eat dakgalbi at a small restaurant opposite our guesthouse. The guesthouse dude just kinda pushed us there. It was kinda pricey 17,000won just for a two person meal. And my friend thinks that its not so great. I've never ate dakgalbi before so I can't judge the taste much but the price tho...too expensive. We bought a bag of 120g Honey Butter chips and ate it at the restaurant/bar below our guesthouse. It tasted so so so good I wanna crai T.T
